Happy Memorial Day (& other holidays)

Monday, May 30th, 2011

For all of you in the US, I want to wish you a Happy Memorial Day (aka Decoration Day). If you have the day off, enjoy it! Personally, I love this holiday. I love how it reminds everyone of our fallen heroes and how the country spends and entire day being thankful that we live in such a great country! At least, that’s how today is thought about around here. How is Memorial Day celebrated where you are?

Today is also National Water a Flower Day!

For those of you not in the US, I don’t want to exclude your holidays this weekend. Yes, I’m feeling all American today, but that isn’t a reason to ignore anyone. So…

  • United Kingdom: Happy May Bank Holiday
  • Australia: Happy Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal Day & Happy Reconciliation Week
  • Spain: Happy Cannary Islands Day
  • Trinidad and Tobago: Happy Indian Arrival Day
  • Nicaragua: Happy Mother’s Day
  • Malaysia: Happy Harvest Festival
  • Croatia: Happy Croatian Parliament Day
  • Honduras: El día del árbol
  • Anguilla: Happy Anguilla day

    Getting Personal

    Tuesday, April 5th, 2011

As a web host, I want to make sure that I reach my customers on a personal level as well as a business one. So, I’m going to open up a category of personal posts where I can share a bit more about myself.

When I first started out as a host, I really got to know most of my customers on a personal level. With few accounts at the time, it was easy to email back and forth about our personal lives. Of course, as the number of hosting accounts grew, there was less and less time to spend socializing.

I miss that. These days, hosting seems more mechanical. A lot of customers see their hosts as a large technical entity whom they go to when they need something. Of course, it’s great when you feel you can go to your host with website help, but the feeling of knowing your host isn’t there.

So, with all of that said, I am going to post a bit more about myself here in my blog. Feel free to use the blog’s comment feature to ask questions or introduce yourself.

My name is Renee Huggins and I am a work at home mom of 2 adorable boys. Christopher just turned 3 and Benjamin will be 5 later this month. My husband, Josh, is currently in construction management. He is a wonderful, supportive husband and an amazing father! My children constantly challenge me to be the best parent I can be. Of course, we’ll have to wait until they are a bit older to see how that worked out.

My sense of humor is a bit dry. I try not to joke around a lot in emails because when written, things can be taken the wrong way, but in person, I tend to use a bit of sarcasm to make a point. Just keep that in mind for my other posts here… if something sounds wrong, it’s probably meant to be a joke.

I absolutely love my job and I love meeting other moms online. Of course, I enjoy meeting everyone else that comes here for hosting, but I can really relate to the moms.
