Your shopping cart has a built-in banner manager. It is located in the Design section of your store admin. It looks like this:

Note the group names, they will be important later.
Edit one of the boxes by selecting it and clicking on the edit button.

[ul]
[li]Change the Banner Title to something that will identify it for you later. You will only see this in the list on the banner manager page.[/li]
[li]Leave the Banner URL blank[/li]
[li]Leave the Banner Group as is.[/li]
[li]If you have an image you would like to use, use the first Image field to browse and upload your image. Erase anything in the HTML area. Then, click on the Update button.[/li]
[li]If the image has already been uploaded to your images area and you know the path, you can enter the name of the image in the second field. Leave Image Target blank and click on the Update button. If you have uploaded the image and don't know the path, you can simply upload the image again and follow the step listed above.[/li]
[li]If you have a bit of HTML code that you would like to use instead, leave everything else blank and insert your code into the HTML Text area and click Update.[/li]
[/ul]
If you want to create a rotating banner, simply create multiple boxes with the same group name.

Next, you will need to get your banner manager onto your website. To do this, you will need to use a placeholder in your website's template. This is where the group name for the banner box comes into place.

Follow the chart below to determine the placeholder for your box.
for group box-ad, use: $boxadbox
for group box-ad2, use: $box2adbox
for group box-ad3, use: $box3adbox
for group box-ad4, use: $box4adbox
for group box-ad5, use: $box5adbox
for group box-ad6, use: $box6adbox
for group box-ad7, use: $box7adbox
for group box-ad8, use: $box8adbox
for group box-ad9, use: $box9adbox
for group box-ad10, use: $box10adbox
